THE HISTORY BEHIND OUR NAME
OREGON AVIATION HALL OF FAME:
Daniel D. Grecco- AKA: Danny. 1897-1983
Danny, well known as “Mr. Aviation,” throughout the country, was a barnstormer, a wing walker who performed without safety harness or parachute, a stunt pilot, an airframe and engine mechanic, and the first licensed helicopter mechanic in the nation. He was a well known “Outlaw,” on Bernard’s field in Beaverton who loved to fly the newest home built oddities-even having had a try at the Flying Flea! Danny also worked as a mechanic, flight instructor, and stunt pilot for the Rankin School of Flying at Swan Island outside of Portland. He is one of the only outlaws from Bernard known to do so. He was elected to the Columbus, Ohio National Aviaiton Hall of Fame and the OX5 National Hall of Fame. He was designated “The Best Mechanic In The West” by the FAA in 1963.
